Florida drivers must have car insurance. The minimum coverage required for auto owners varies by state. In Florida, you are required to have $10,000 in personal injury protection (PIP) and $10,000 in property damage liability (PDL). Your car insurance policy with these minimum requirements must be issued through a Florida insurance agency, like Members Insurance Center, with an insurance company licensed to sell in the state of Florida. Please note that in addition to these two required coverages, Members Insurance Center also requires Bodily Injury Liability to be on all auto policies written through our Agency.
Personal Injury Protection covers the medical treatment of injuries sustained by yourself or other passengers in your car due to an accident. You may also hear this referred to as “Florida No Fault Insurance” or simply by it’s abbreviation, “PIP.” The coverage also covers your children if they are injured while riding on a school bus, or yourself while in someone else’s vehicle during a collision.
Property Damage Liability covers the cost of damages that are caused by you (or an insured driver) to property owned by others (such as another car, a fence, a building, etc.) where you (or your family member) are liable for the damage.
Bodily Injury Liability coverage term helps cover the cost of medical injuries sustained by another person in an accident where you, the policy holder (or an insured driver), are liable for damages.
Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist Coverage comes into play when you are involved in an accident involving an at-fault driver who does not have insurance (or enough insurance) to cover the damaged they caused to you and/or your car.
Have questions about a specific term or other coverage? The insurance agents at Members Insurance Center would be happy to help!
We understand that every situation is unique and every driver and family has different requirements.
We’ll work with you to determine what is best for you, which means a custom combination of insurance carrier, coverage type(s), deductible, premium, and payment option.
Everyone is always looking for the best coverage for the lowest rate, but what’s not always made clear is that lower rates tend to mean less coverage. Low rates are fine for some situations, but when shopping for car insurance, you should always weigh the benefits of a low premium with the downside of a higher deductible and less coverage.
We can help you work out some options to meet your insurance needs and the needs of your budget.
