Since standard home insurance typically does not cover flooding, it's important to have protection from floods associated with hurricanes, tropical storms, heavy rains and other conditions that impact the U.S. Members Insurance has the option to quote with Carriers that administer through the National Flood Insurance Program and also Private Flood Insurance Companies.
In 1968, Congress created the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to help provide a means for property owners to financially protect themselves. The NFIP offers flood insurance to homeowners, renters, and business owners if their community participates in the NFIP. Participating communities agree to adopt and enforce ordinances that meet or exceed FEMA requirements to reduce the risk of flooding. Find out more about the NFIP. To request a quote through a NFIP Flood Carrier, please select the 'Request A Quote' option on the right hand side.
Private flood insurance is provided and backed by private companies, as opposed to the NFIP which is backed by the federal government. Private flood may provide higher and broader coverage options than available through the NFIP. This includes coverages like Temporary Living Expenses or Pool Repair & Refill. The private flood carriers we work with meet the definition of private flood insurance contained in 42 U.S.C. 4012a(b)(7) and the corresponding regulation and does not have any provision which is not in compliance with 42 U.S.C. 4012a(b). However, we always recommend to confirm with your Lender if they will accept a private flood insurance policy to satisfy their loan requirements. Find out more about the private flood carrier here.
